brown girl surf 2025 Community Focus: The Female Surfers of Gaza
The Gaza surfer girls were an inspiration in starting brown girl surf. We learned about the project from the work of our friends at Explore Corps (the charity that runs the Gaza Surf Club Project) and through the work of our local friends at The Wahine Project.
brown girl surf invites you to partner with Rawand, Gaza's first female surfer, to help her and her family get to safety in the war by contributing to her gofundme campaign.
The fact that we live in an era of humanity where war victims have to advertise their own campaigns as a means to generate resources to survive war, is beyond troubling. However, it is one small action we can collectively take to stand in solidarity with fellow water women of the world.

Surf Communities:
Do you want to learn to surf, or find an ocean community? We recommend the following businesses and organizations in Northern and Central California:
|
The Wahine Project
The Wahine Project is one of the first organizations to connect surfing, ocean equity and environmental stewardship for girls around the world. They run quality surf camps and environmental stewardship programs for girls, boys and female-identifying youth in the Monterey Bay Area. We are grateful for our 13-year friendship with this organization and their Founder, Dionne Ybarra. |

Traveler Surf Club and Coastal Outpost
Traveler offers beginning and intermediate surf coaching in Malibu, Santa Cruz and Pacifica, California. We have known the owners, Julie and Rell, since before they began! If you go to the Pacifica location, ask for April - she's a great teacher and friend of brown girl surf! |
